Ian Poulter to Make Senior Major Debut at US Senior Open
Ian Poulter will compete in his first senior major championship at the 2026 US Senior Open, scheduled to seize place at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio, from July 2nd to 5th.
Transition to Senior Golf
Turning 50 in January, Poulter is now eligible for senior competition. He shared his official invitation to the US Senior Open on his Instagram story, captioning it with When you know you’re getting vintage.
This event will mark his first competitive appearance outside of LIV Golf in two years.
Familiar Faces at Scioto
Poulter will be joined by several familiar faces, including fellow LIV Golf player Richard Bland, who won the title in 2024, and former Ryder Cup teammate Padraig Harrington, the defending champion. Lee Westwood, Majesticks GC co-captain, has also confirmed his participation.
Ryder Cup and Future Plans
Poulter expressed lasting goals as he enters his sixth decade, including playing in a major alongside his 22-year-old son, Luke, and remaining involved with the Ryder Cup in some capacity.
Senior Open Eligibility
Despite his eligibility for several senior majors, Poulter will not be eligible to play in the Senior Open, held at Gleneagles just weeks later. This is due to his resignation from membership with the DP World Tour and the R&A in 2023.
