Aragonese Judo Teams Shine in Santiago de Compostela
A compact delegation of judokas from the Alto Aragón region of Spain returned home with a haul of medals from the Spanish Children’s Judo Cup A, held in Santiago de Compostela this weekend. Athletes from Club Judo Binéfar and Escuela Judo Sobrarbe demonstrated impressive skill and determination throughout the competition.
Sara Maull (+63kg) of Club Judo Binéfar secured a silver medal, winning all her preliminary matches before a narrow defeat in the final. Her opponent scored with just five seconds remaining, preventing a comeback.

From Escuela Judo Sobrarbe, Marina Fluerica (-40kg) also claimed a silver medal after a series of convincing victories. Leo Mamolar (-38kg) faced a controversial refereeing decision that prevented him from reaching the medal rounds, while Fabián Campoy earned a silver medal after a very close final match.
Provincial Championships Showcase Rising Talent
On Sunday, the focus shifted to Huesca for the provincial championship in the Benjamin and Alevín categories, attracting approximately 150 young athletes from across Alto Aragón. The event prioritized providing a competitive experience for young judokas outside of their usual club environment.

The Barbastro Judo Club sent 11 judokas to compete, accompanied by their coach Antonio Clager. The Club Judo Binéfar was represented by 30 athletes across both categories, coached by Juan Mediavilla. The Club Ibón School also had a strong presence, with over 55 athletes participating.
The competition was structured with small leagues and individual fights, with all participants receiving a medal for their efforts.
Huesca Judo Club Continues Development
The Huesca Judo Club also participated actively, with athletes competing in both the Pequeñines League and the Provincial Championship. The club emphasized the importance of participation, learning and camaraderie for its young athletes.

Looking ahead, Carlos Martín, Eduardo Miranda, and Candela Pérez will represent the Huesca Judo Club at the European Cup in Madrid, while the entire children’s and cadet team will compete in the final Spanish Cup of the season in Alicante.
