84-Year-Old Argentine Grandfather’s Love for Soccer knows no Bounds
Passion Unfading at 84: Cordoba’s Soccer Enthusiast
In the heart of Córdoba, Argentina, lives an extraordinary man named Horacio. At the ripe old age of 84, he’s proving that you’re only as old as you feel—and the way Horacio feels about soccer is anything but ancient. A lifelong fan of the local club, Atlético de Workshop, he’s kept his passion alive by playing the beautiful game once a week with his friends.
Kilometer Bike Ride Preparations and Safety First
To gear up for his weekly matches, Horacio goes for a kilometer-long bike ride to get his bones “in condition.” And when it comes to safety, he’s not worried. “We’re big people, and with care and respect, it can be done,” he insists. He plays two 30-minute halves, 11 against 11, with his fellow enthusiasts.
“I carry (soccer) in my heart. I played all my life. It is my entertainment through the years, I was always linked.”

Meeting Messi: Horacio’s Dream
Horacio’s ultimate dream? To meet Argentine national team captain and global soccer sensation, Lionel Messi. “It would be the dream of my life,” he gushes. “He is a teacher who filled our hearts.”
Filled with Joy: Horacio’s Soccer Family
Horacio, also known as “little grandfather,” has a reference in former Argentine World Cup champion Luis Galván, who was his neighbor. He plays as a midfielder and scored his last goal on December 13.
“These are things that help you get on with life,” he says of the viral video capturing his passion for the game.
