🏆 Special Olympics National Games: Homburg to Host Judo Event in 2026

HOMBURG, Germany – An exciting sports development unrolled in Saarbrücken as the Special Olympics National Games 2026 found a home in the Saarland, with Homburg among the chosen host municipalities. The city will proudly host the Judo discipline at the Erbach sports center, a nod to its commitment to both sports and social inclusion.

The Special Olympics stand for diversity, respect and participation – values that are lived in Homburg. We look forward to welcoming national and international guests and celebrating a sports festival with them that moves and connects.

Celebrating Unity Through Sports

The Special Olympics, an internationally recognized institution, offers 26 individual and team sports disciplines, along with competitive activities for those unable to participate in regular events. Their focus lies not on individual victories, but on the personal growth, participation, and self-confidence of each athlete.

Homburg’s Role and Preparation

Homburg Mayor Manfred Rippel affirmed the city’s commitment to the event, saying, “Homburg welcomes the Special Olympics as it embodies the unity and inclusion we strive for.” The city plans to set up an information platform on its website, offering updates, participation options, and news about the event.

The city invites all citizens, associations, and institutions to participate. Whether it’s as a helper, idea contributor, or spectator, every engagement is welcome.
