Stay Calm & Combat Holiday Stress: Simple Exercises for Your Mental Well-being

Holiday Stress: Not Just a Myth

The holiday season is upon us, and while it’s supposed to be a time of joy and relaxation, the reality can be quite different. Stress and anxiety often creep in, fueled by the pressure to organize, buy gifts, and prepare for family gatherings. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Sandrine Arcizet, well-being columnist in “Hello! La Matinale TF1,” shares three simple exercises to help you stay calm and centered.

Exercise 1: Back Stretch & Mind Rest

When you feel the stress kicking in, try this yoga-inspired posture. Kneel on the floor, keeping your knees slightly apart and toes touching. Extend your arms in front of you, trying to move your hands forward to stretch your entire back.

You’ll instantly feel space in the lower part of your back and a stretch in your waist. This posture not only relaxes the mind but also helps relieve tension.

Exercise 2: Cobra Pose for Upper Body Stretch

Lie on your stomach, legs slightly apart. Press your hands into the ground, palms facing down, on either side of your chest. Push through your hands to lift your chest off the ground, keeping your elbows close to your body. Engage your abs to protect your lower back and avoid arching it.

This pose, known as Cobra in yoga, aims to stretch your spine and open your chest, relieving lower back pain.

Exercise 3: Child’s Pose for Complete Relaxation

From the cobra pose, slowly move back onto your knees, then sit back on your heels, arms extended in front of you. Place your head on the ground, relax your shoulders, and let your forehead sink to the ground.
