The motorized vehicle decorated for the children’s party was unable to circulate. The Carabinieri of Abano Terme explain the reasons
The police stopped Santa’s sleigh. It happened in Montegrotto, in the Padua area, on the evening of Monday 16 December. According to what was reported by Gazetteshortly before the door-to-door tour organized for the children by the Maria Immacolata nursery school, the motorized sled, a vehicle whose category is not clear and decorated in agreement with the Municipality and the local police to bring gifts to the little ones, had to deal with the Highway Code. “We didn’t really understand what vehicle it was,” explained Lieutenant Diego Del Tufo, commander of the Carabinieri station in Abano Terme (Padua), in an attempt to mitigate the controversies that broke out in the country after the cancellation of the traditional Christmas celebration.
The investigations

“We asked the school to give us the relevant documentation for which it has 30 days” continues Lieutenant Del Tufo. No fine for the moment, but everything will depend on the investigations. “If it has the engine of a Ferrari underneath it’s one thing, but if it has that of a scooter things change, such as having to be homologated, having a license plate and insurance to circulate. At present the sled is simply blocked”. It does not appear to be an issue relating to the new Code, which came into force on Saturday. “If we had stopped him in August it would have been the same thing”, concludes Lieutenant Del Tufo. Also because, apparently, Santa Claus had not registered the sleigh.
