Harold Mayot’s adventure in the Vendée Challenger came to an end this Saturday afternoon in Mouilleron-le-Captif, at the gates of the final. The 22-year-old Messin, 107th in the world rankings, was beaten in the half by another Frenchman, Lucas Pouille (125th), in two sets (6-4, 6-1).
The Mosellan gave up his serve at the very end of the first set. In the second, the former No. 10 in the ATP rankings managed to break twice to cruise to victory, converting his second match point. The Northerner won against Lorraine for the fourth time in five confrontations.
Six days after losing in the final of the Orléans Challenger, Harold Mayot nevertheless still had a great week in Vendée. A week marked by successes at the expense of Alexandre Reco, the Italian Samuel Vincent Ruggeri and Clément Chidekh. Messin has collected valuable points which will allow him to enter, for the first time in his career, the Top 100 at the ATP this Monday.
The final of the Vendée Challenger will feature a Franco-French duel between Lucas Pouille and Quentin Halys (100th), who defeated Croatian Dino Prizmic (344th) in the other semi-final played earlier in the afternoon this Saturday.
