Harburg Judo Champions Take Home Hamburg Titles at U18 and U21 Championships

Harburg – The athletes returned with two Hamburg championship titles and several good placings KSC Bushido back from the title fights. This year’s Hamburg individual championships for the U18 and U21 took place at the state performance center in Eulenkamp at the weekend. This is where the first selection takes place on the way to qualifying for the German Individual Championships, which leads to the North German Championships for those placed. Joined from KSC Bushido Hamburg Linda Geerdts -57Kg U18, Xenia Scheit -57Kg U18, Julia Lewitzki +78Kg U18 and Jan Henrik John -81Kg U21 an.

Linda Geerdts used her double start this year and also competed in the U21 age group. At first, the 16-year-old from Eissenfdorf went from fight to fight in the U18 and dominated, particularly with strong throwing techniques.

After a total of four victories, she was crowned Hamburg champion in the -57kg class. The youngster in the quartet, Xenia Scheit, also competed -57kg and was able to win 3rd place after successful counterattack techniques. This is the first time that the 14-year-old KSC athlete is taking part in the North German Championships.

It also made it to the top of the podium Julia Lewitzki and underlines the strong result of the three female starters from the KSC, who all secured a medal place.
The 18-year-old started in the U21 age group Jan Henrik John in the men’s premier class up to 81kg. Here he was up against strong, experienced competition. In the end he achieved a respectable 5th place and can look to the future with confidence.

Linda took 3rd place in the -57Kg U21 class and thus secured her ticket to the North German Championships as a youngster in this age group. These will take place on the 17th/18th. February in Visbek and are the last “hurdle” to the German championship in Leipzig. cb
