Baseballcosplay: KBO All-Star Game transforms into Galactic Showcase

Star Wars descends on the KBO All-Star Game

The 2025 KBO All-Star Game in Daejeon wasn’t just another baseball event; it was a galaxy far, far away from the norm. Hanwha Eagles’ starting pitcher, Ponde, channeled his inner Jedi (or Sith?) and dressed as Darth Vader, bringing the power of the Force to the mound.

“I knew there might not be many Star Wars fans in Korea, but I hoped someone would recognize it,” Ponde said, smiling beneath his helmet.

Beyond a Galaxy Far, Far Away

Ponde wasn’t the only player who stepped into a costume for the All-Star Game.лно

Anime and K-Pop, Too

  • KT Ahn Hyun-min dressed as a gorilla (KT Gorilla), fitting his nickname.
  • NC Brothers, Park Gun-woo and Park Min-woo, parodied Pat and Mat.
  • Kiwoom Joo Hyeong dressed as an Attack Titan from Attack on Titan.
  • LG Park Myung-geun dressed as Infinite Challenge’s grandpa character, ‘Boy Myeongsu’.

Unseen Pitching in the Regular Season

In a memorable moment, Dream All-Star defense saw KT Woo Kyu-min on first and second, followed by SSG Choi Jung stunned first baseman and facing cheerfully against LG Lee Ju-hyeong with a slow 121 km/h pitch.

After the Game: A Star’s Display

After the fifth inning, singer Lee Moo-jin and the band Jan Butterfly lit up the stage. The game ended with Sharing All-Star (KIA, LG, Hanwha, NC, Kiwoom) winning 8-6.
