Vietnam’s Nguyen Hai DangAdvances to Semi-Finals at Indonesia Masters II
In a gripping badminton encounter, Vietnam’s top player, Nguyen Hai Dang, secured his place in the semi-finals of the Indonesia Masters II, defeating Malaysia’s Ong Zhen Yi (ranked 154th) in a closely-fought match on October 24. Dang, ranked 55th worldwide, won 2-1 (21-11, 19-21, 21-15) to reach the semi-finals of the BWF Super 100 tournament.
From Al Ain to Indonesia
This Semi-final appearance is Dang’s second in a BWF Super 100 tournament this year, following his impressive run at the Al Ain Masters. The Vietnamese shuttler, seeded 6th, overcame Wongsup Wongsup In (Thailand) and Krishna Adi Nugraha (Indonesia) to reach the last four.
Looking Ahead: A Match-up with Dong Tianyao
Dang’s next challenge in the semi-finals will be against young Chinese player Dong Tianyao (ranked 118th). Earlier, Dang had defeated the seventh-seeded Indonesian, Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo, in the quarter-finals of the Al Ain Masters. Should Dang and Shujiwo both reach the final, they would face each other once again.
Prize Money and Ranking Points up for Grabs
The Indonesia Masters II 2025 offers a total prize money of USD 110,000. Having reached the semi-finals, Dang is guaranteed at least USD 1,595 and 3,850 ranking points. If heprogresses to the final, he stands to gain at least USD 4,180 and 4,680 points.
