[점프볼=조형호 기자] “A friend who was able to challenge elite basketball, I support his new challenge.”

Gwangju Man to Man Basketball School (Gwangju LG Sakers), led by Director Kim Tae-hoon, is spreading basketball to children in Gwangju Metropolitan City in various ways, from club sports for those who enjoy basketball as a hobby to advancement to elite basketball teams and even private lessons.

U15 Lee Hee-dong also encountered basketball through Man to Man. Lee Hee-dong, who first picked up a basketball through the Gwangju Man to Man Basketball Class in the 5th grade of elementary school, showed his love for basketball by taking private lessons as a founding member of the team.

He led the man-to-man basketball class based on his fast speed and sharp breakthrough ability compared to his large physique, and at the time, he was offered a challenge as an elite basketball player by Director Kim Tae-hoon. Director Kim Tae-hoon, who highly regarded his skills and passion, saw potential in him.

However, Lee Hee-dong decided to study abroad in Canada according to his parents’ decision. Instead of challenging himself as an elite basketball player in Korea, he plans to move to Canada to pursue his dream of becoming a basketball player. Even at a relatively late age of 3rd year of middle school, he chose to go abroad and take on a courageous challenge.

Director Kim Tae-hoon said, “Lee Hee-dong is a player with brilliant talent. He is in good physical condition and his attitude and passion for basketball are both outstanding. Although he was not able to challenge himself as an elite basketball player in Korea, I will do my best to help him as he strives to achieve his dream of becoming a basketball player in a foreign country.” He supported his student’s dream.

Lee Hee-dong, who will continue his challenge as a basketball player in Canada, plans to return to the country every vacation to receive skill training and shooting lessons at a man-to-man basketball school. Director Kim Tae-hoon also promised to spare no effort in providing full support for his student’s growth.

Director Kim Tae-hoon concluded the interview by saying, “I am looking forward to seeing how much Heedong will grow when he next comes to Korea. I hope he will always overcome difficulties and come back even more wonderful. I will support him so that his future will shine brightly.”
