The Guyanese judoka Elvismar Rodríguez ended his participation in the World Judo Championship in the Seniors category, which was held in the United Arab Emirates, by losing the quarterfinal part of 70 kilos against the British Kelly Petersen.

Rodríguez began his participation in the universal tournament by claiming the benefit of a Bye pass in the round of 64 that allowed him to advance to the quarterfinals where he eventually lost to his counterpart from Great Britain who Kelly Peterson.

Currently, Elvismar Rodríguez is in the 14th box in the Olympic ranking of 70 kilograms with 3,066 points, because it gives him a place in Paris 2024.
