With the signing of Spencer Reaves, one of the most feared three-point shooters in the easyCredit BBL came to Weißenfels in the summer. The American with a German passport grew up in Arkansas and comes from a basketball family. His parents were once development players at Arkansas State University, and his brother Austin currently plays in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers. Spencer studied physical education at North Greenville University in South Carolina and at the University of Central Missouri from 2014 to 2018.
In 2018, his professional career began in Spain, where he played two seasons for Iraurgi SB and one for CB Tizona Burgos. In July 2021 he moved to Germany. The shooting guard signed a two-year contract with the Bayer Giants Leverkusen, who were still playing in the ProA at the time. Reaves gained his first international experience in the following season with Brose Bamberg, who signed him in the summer of 2022. Reaves reached the playoff quarter-finals with Bamberg. After a season in Franconia, the 28-year-old parted ways and went to the (then) promoted team RASTA Vechta. There he played 35 games, scored 6.7 points per game and converted 50% of his three-pointers. With his new team, the SYNTAINICS MBC, Reaves is in 16th place after four games. However, he has already been able to demonstrate his skills with 18 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.
