Magic’s Wagner Sidelined Indefinitely with Ankle Injury

The Orlando Magic will be without forward Franz Wagner indefinitely as he continues rehabilitation for a left ankle sprain, the team announced Wednesday. This marks another setback for the young star, who has struggled with the injury since December.

Recurring Ankle Issue Plagues Wagner

Wagner initially sustained the injury on December 7 during a game against the New York Knicks. He has missed 25 of the last 29 games due to the recurring soreness. Despite brief returns to the court, including appearances in Germany and London, the injury continues to flare up. He most recently played on February 9 and February 11 with a minutes restriction.

Impact on the Magic’s Playoff Push

Wagner’s absence is a significant blow to Orlando, currently 28-25 and 1.5 games behind the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference. The Magic are on track to potentially make the play-in tournament, but Wagner’s injury complicates those prospects. Without him, the team has struggled, going 12-13 in games he’s missed between December 9 and January 8.
