The French men’s team has been on a roll at the European Men’s and Women’s Team Championships and have secured their spot in the semi-finals with a stunning victory against Turkey. They will face Sweden in the semi-finals, a team they have already beaten earlier in the competition.
Men’s Team Competition
With qualification virtually assured, the French team took on Turkey in their last group match today. They dominated the match from start to finish, winning 5-0. The team was led by Christo who won his match 4-21, 7-21. Eloi ADAM and Léo ROSSI followed suit, winning 21-7, 21-6 and 21-13, 21-8 respectively. The duo Thom GICQUEL/Toma Junior POPOV and Arnaud MERKLE sealed the victory with strong performances, winning 21-5, 21-11 and 21-11, 21-7 respectively.
Women’s Team Competition
Despite needing a victory to qualify, the French women’s team lost a heartbreaker to Turkey. They led 2-1 but couldn’t close out the match, losing 3-2. Anna TATRANOVA lost her opening match, but the ladies’ doubles of Lambert/POGNANTE and Agathe CUEVAS/Elsa JACOB fought back to level the score. However, Ravza BODUR and Léana LAURENT lost their respective matches, leading to France’s elimination in the group phase.
