The French magazine “France Football”, which came up with the idea of the European Champions League, announced 30 names nominated for the most important individual award in the world, the Golden Ball, and the rest of the awards represented by the best women’s football player, best young player, best goalkeeper, best coach and best club, and for the first time the Spanish club Girona is among the nominees.
The magazine nominated 10 names for the Best Young Player Award: Pau Coparsi, Alejandro Garnacho, Arda Guler, Karim Konate, Kobi Maino, Joao Neves, Savinho, Mathias Tell, Lamine Yamal, and Zahir Emery.
Barcelona player Lamine Yamal and the Spanish national team top the list of candidates for this award, after his contribution to his country’s victory in the “Euro 2024” championship.
The magazine nominated 10 goalkeepers to win the award for the best goalkeeper in the world (Lev Yashin): Diogo Costa, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Grigor Kopil, Andriy Lunin, Mike Maignan, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Emiliano Martinez, Unai Simon, Yann Sommer, and Ronwen Williams.
Girona the surprise
In the same context, 5 European clubs were nominated for the award for the best club in the world for the year 2024, namely: Borussia Dortmund – Manchester City – Bayer Leverkusen – Real Madrid – Girona. Girona’s entry into the list is considered a surprise, as it is the first time the club has been included among the nominees.
