The session was organized by Femafoot in collaboration with the INJS.

A total of 51 coaches, including one woman, have successfully obtained the coveted license and are now operational. The session was conducted by the national football governing body, in collaboration with the National Institute of Youth and Sport (INJS). With this new momentum, Mali now has more than 300 licensed coaches in all categories, said Femafoot First Vice President Moussa Sylvain Diakité.

“The role of coaches is crucial to the development of football because they are the ones who mentor and guide children,” said the sports official while commenting on the collaboration with INJS. “With this formation, we can say that the partnership with INJS has started off on the right foot. INJS has the expertise and we have the resources. We will work with the INJS to organize further training sessions, such as those for referees and specialist physical trainers. Initiatives like these are essential for the development of football,” concluded the First Vice President of Femafoot.

The INJS Deputy Director General also lauded the successful execution of the session and reiterated the institute’s readiness to continue and strengthen the partnership with the national sports movement, particularly in the sphere of football. “The main mission of INJS is to develop leaders in youth and sports. We realized that fulfilling this mission will not be easy without the collaboration of the actors in the field. That’s why we signed a partnership with the Malian Football Federation,” explained Youssouf Karambé.

The only woman in the group, Fatoumata Koné, expressed her joy at obtaining the Category D Federal License and encouraged women in sport to participate in training sessions in all disciplines. “I am very happy and excited to have obtained my Category D Federal License. This license will open up opportunities for me; it’s a dream that came true. I will do my best to be an example for other coaches,” said Fatoumata Koné. Among talented female coaches, valor knows no age, and Fatoumata Koné appears to be on track to become, in the coming weeks or months, the youngest woman to lead a first division team in both women’s and men’s football.
