Florian Dauphin Triumphs in Road Race

Finally, Florian Dauphin emerged victorious among the Amateurs, savoring the taste of triumph once again after his previous success in the general classification of Essor Breton. Crossing the finish line first holds a different significance for him. “Raising my arms was important. The pressure was off since L’Essor, but I had a strong desire to win a road race,” he shared during an interview with DirectVelo.

“I Had to Launch from Far”

Dauphin’s long-awaited victory in a road race came at the iconic Mont Saint-Michel de Brasparts. He strategically identified the key moment to make a decisive move during the first stage of the SportBreizh, stating, “It was a finish that suited me. My coach and I had planned for me to attack from a distance, and that’s exactly what I did. It paid off handsomely.” However, defending the leader’s yellow jersey was still a challenge that lay ahead.

Similar to his triumph in Essor Breton, Dauphin relied on the support of his dedicated team members from Cre’Actuel-Marie Morin-U 22. “I had to manage the defense of the jersey for two stages. I had a strong team, and we handled it well. In the third stage, the final circuit was selective, but I had Swann (Gloux) by my side, ready to respond whenever necessary. I took charge and controlled the pace, ensuring we maintained the desired gap,” he explained.

“I Will Go to Win”

Prior to this victory, Dauphin showcased his form in the Tour d’Eure-et-Loir, a Class 2 event, where he narrowly missed out on claiming the top spot over three days. However, he faced some challenges during the Brittany Championship, admitting, “I had a small setback due to a heat stroke.” Now, his focus is on the upcoming French Championship in Kassel.

Approaching the race with a calm mindset, Dauphin, the leader of the BBB-DirectVelo Challenge, stated, “I will race as I usually do. It’s the French Championship, and I won’t simply follow others or stick to a predetermined race plan. I know that if I execute my race correctly, it can lead to a remarkable outcome.” He is well aware that this event could open doors for him to join a prominent team next year. “It holds great significance, and I will strive to emerge as the victor,” he affirmed.
