Instead of sunbathing, these young athletes are set for an intensive week-long badminton boot camp in Guadeloupe. Kicking off on February 7, the training camp will be hosted by local professionals and feature three thrilling tournaments.

🤝 The Guadeloupe connection
President and coach of the local badminton club, Alexandre Hublard, explains the choice of destination. “We depend on the Guadeloupe league for events like stages and formations,” he says. Sending a small squad of promising youngsters allows them to participate in more, bigger events without stretching resources.

• Boys: Elliot and Tristan are buzzing about the trip, excited for the warm weather, the thrill of competition, and, of course, the fun that comes with traveling with teammates.
• Girls: Océane and Tiziana, the lone female representatives, are eager to form new friendships and revisit (in Tiziana’s case) one of their most memorable experiences.

“Our girls’ team is a tad light right now,” Alexandre admits. “We’re ecstatic to have Océane and Tiziana join us this year.”

👥 Boosting club participation
With 75 active members and around 36 youngsters, the Saint-Pierre and Miquelon badminton club is flourishing. Alexandre reveals plans for upcoming events: a potential blackminton night, an internal tournament, and club-to-club exchanges with karate and other sports enthusiasts.

Océane and Tiziana highlight badminton’s inclusivity, inviting more girls to join the club. “It’s an amazing, mixed-gender sport, and we’d love to see more sisters and friends join us!”
