Nikola Jokic Celebrates NBA Championship with Passion for Horse Racing

After securing the first-ever NBA championship for the Denver Nuggets, Nikola Jokic, the team’s star player, returned to his hometown of shadow in Serbia to indulge in his love for horse racing.

This Sunday, Jokic was spotted among the numerous fans who gathered at the local hippodrome in the tranquil northern Serbian town, which is home to approximately 47,000 residents.

The Finals MVP, wearing his iconic jersey number 15 of the Nuggets, watched with great enthusiasm as his family’s horses participated in harness races. A towering billboard displaying the message “Welcome Home MVP” proudly showcased Jokic.

Family Horse Takes Second Place

Jokic had expressed concerns about potentially missing the races on Sunday, especially after the team’s celebratory parade in Denver held just last Thursday.

Although the Serbian star arrived at the racetrack late, he was fortunate enough to witness the race where his family’s horse secured a commendable second place.

Accompanied by his wife, daughter, brother, father, and friends, Jokic received a warm reception upon his arrival, donning a polo shirt adorned with the phrase “Dream Catcher” as a tribute to his first equine purchase made years ago.

According to his father, Jokic developed a deep passion for horses and horse racing during his formative years, to the extent that it nearly diverted his attention away from basketball.
