While Gilles Moretton was unveiling his campaign program in front of club presidents, elected officials from committees and leagues, Pascale Boulpiquante was filming the presentation of the head of French tennis. “I was taking a video as part of my role on the communications committee of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine League,” she explains. During the exchange, Pierre Doumayrou was surprised to see me filming and took me to task: “Does that give you vibrations?” I told him that I’d been doing that for four years every time they came to our region. I added that I was doing it on a personal level. Mr. Moretton ended up adding that “oh yes, the vibrations are personal” and insisting on the “vibrations”. I was shocked and didn’t go any further.”
“Embarrassing” scene
At the end of the meeting, the Landes elected official was supported by club presidents present, challenged by the comments of the FFT president. “Everything is recorded, we can clearly see that I did not provoke anything. The situation was offensive,” she insisted. Several club leaders as well as the president of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine League Alain Moreau confirmed that the comments were “inappropriate” and that the scene was “embarrassing.”
“I have been a volunteer for 30 years, in rugby (Editor’s note: widow of Daniel Boulpiquante, former rugby player, who played for Stade Montois) and now in tennis, and no one has ever said things like that to me,” Pascale Boulpiquante laments. Contacted by “Sud Ouest”, Gilles Moretton did not wish to respond to the accusations. The Landes volunteer sent the audio recording of the exchange to the Ministry of Sports.
