The Scuderia team principal on TG1: “The car is easier to drive and doesn’t wear out the tyres. What would I like for the fans at Easter? Trophies inside a fairly large egg”

“If Ferrari can be competitive for the F1 Constructors’ World Championship? This is the objective, but also to fight for the Drivers’ World Championship even if this year it is perhaps a little early but we will see.” Frederic Vasseur, Ferrari team principal, places no limits on Ferrari after the splendid double in Melbourne. Sainz won in Australia, and next year he will leave the wheel to Hamilton (“I have great respect for Carlos Sainz as a man and as a driver, when I told him about Hamilton’s choice we promised ourselves that we would push until the last corner of the last Grand Prix”) but above all there was confirmation of an SF-24 that was “easier to drive, to understand its behaviour, it doesn’t give surprises, wears the tires less and allows us to attack”.

Interviewed by TG1, the Ferrari team principal however warns that “the weekends will not all be like the one in Melbourne, I ask the team not to make mistakes, to improve one step at a time and maintain the same determination. Any news at Suzuka? No, it’s too early, the task now is to understand the car well and get the most out of it because we haven’t done it yet.” And finally: “What would I like Ferrari fans to find in the Easter egg? Trophies, but with a fairly large egg”, smiles Vasseur.
