Federer, an eight-time champion in Dubai, was present throughout the day, culminating in witnessing Wawrinka’s win. This appearance holds particular significance as Wawrinka is set to retire at the end of 2026.
A Special Moment for Both Champions
Wawrinka acknowledged the added pressure of playing with Federer watching. Roger notified me that he was coming and I must say that it is an extra pressure. Looking Ahead on the ATP Tour
Wawrinka also shared his thoughts on the current state of men’s tennis, praising the dominance of Carlos Alcaraz and the consistency of Jannik Sinner. It’s Alcaraz’s time, but I don’t see Sinner having ups and downs. There have been two tournaments in which he has lost in the semifinals of a Grand Slam and in the quarterfinals. I see that both of them are one step ahead of the rest and it is incredible to see them play. Jannik is still there and it shows when they play against
