It seems to have become a habit for several car and truck drivers in Rome to enter in the opposite direction so as not to be detected by surveillance cameras in restricted traffic areas. 60 offenses recorded in a few days

Access to limited traffic areas (Ztl) is free of charge for a series of vehicle categories, including electric cars. The driver of an electric car seems to have forgotten it and, to avoid payment (non-existent for his vehicle), he drove his electric car the wrong way so as not to be filmed by the cameras entering the restricted traffic zone in Rome. He is not the only one: numerous car and van drivers have invented various ways to deceive the cameras placed at the ZTL gates in the city of Rome. Different ones illicit transit mode, such as opening the door of vans to hide the license plate or accessing in reverse or against traffic to avoid being filmed by the camera located in the entrance lane. In just a few days, more than 60 offencesconsequently a project was started with the motorcyclist department of the I Group in the historic centre targeted surveillance service at the ZTL entrances starting from the most targeted ones, not only in the historic center but also in Trastevere.

One was applied to every motorist caught on the wrong side of the road fine of 327 euroswith the license suspension from 1 to 3 months and relative 10 point deductionin addition to expected sanction for access to the restricted traffic zone without authorisation, equal to 83 euro.
