DR Congo Leopards Prepare for FIBA World Cup Qualifiers in Senegal

Dakar, Senegal – The Democratic Republic of Congo’s senior men’s basketball team, the Leopards, are preparing to compete in the second window of the FIBA 2027 World Cup qualifiers, hosted in Senegal from February 26th to March 1st.

First Training Session Completed

The Leopards held their initial training session in Dakar on Saturday, February 21st, with support from the French Institute of Senegal. The team utilized the facilities to initiate preparations for the upcoming matches.

Currently, six players are present, with four more expected to join and complete the squad.

The first session was led by Pierrot Ilunga, assistant coach number 1 of the team, who expressed strong motivation and determination to achieve their qualification goals.

Match Schedule

The Leopards will face a challenging schedule in Senegal:

  • February 26: DR Congo vs. Madagascar
  • February 27: Ivory Coast vs. DR Congo

The team will also play a friendly test match on Sunday, February 22nd, as part of their final preparations.
