Unprecedented Double Victory

In an extraordinary feat, Douglas Golf Club from Cork has created history by winning both the AIG Men’s and Women’s Senior Cups in the same year. This remarkable achievement hasn’t been seen since 1979 when Royal Portrush accomplished the same.

Men’s Senior Cup: A Thrilling Finish

In the men’s competition, Douglas faced off against Rosslare in the final. The match went down to the wire, with the deciding point coming from 17-year-old Barry O’Connell on the 18th green.

• Douglas won with a score of 4-1, with key wins from Peter O’Keeffe, Sean Reddy, and Kyle McCarron.
• O’Connell sealed the victory with a win on the 18th green.

Women’s Senior Cup: Back-to-Back Victories

The women’s team, led by Captain Kate MacCann, also made history by winning their second consecutive AIG Women’s Senior Cup.

• Douglas defeated County Sligo 4-1 in the semi-finals and Lahinch in the final.
• 17-year-old Claudia O’Donoghue sealed the victory with a 1up win on the 18th green.
