As part of the relaunch of basketball in Dosso, the Regional Basketball Management Committee organized a competition called “3/3 sovereignty cup”. A tournament sponsored by the Prefect of the Dosso department, Mrs. Ousseini Ouma Tambari, and which brought together male teams from the commune of Dosso and Dogondoutchi. They are Swagga, Firious, UDO, Cristiti and ABC Doutchi.
After 48 hours of competition, the final was played in the afternoon of Monday, November 18, 2024 at the regional stadium, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Prefecture of Dosso, Mr. Ibrahim Abdou Tikiré, members of the regional management committee, the Regional Director of Sports, partners and supporters of basketball.
After the kick-off, both teams Swagga and Firious gave a fair game and interesting actions. In the end, the “Firious” team won the final against the “Swagga” team with a score of 7 to 3.
The winning team received a cup with an envelope and the losing team received a consolation prize. The Doutchi group settled for a fair play award. Testimonies of satisfaction were given by the organizers to the Prefect of the department of Dosso and to some partners whose financial contribution made it possible to hold the tournament.
The President of the Dosso Regional Basketball Management Committee, Mr. Garba Seyni Ibrahim, made a positive assessment and thanked the Prefect of the department and some basketball players for their participation in the organization of 3/3 sovereignty, but also the enthusiasm that it aroused in the youth in the Dosso region. Some tournaments are announced, hence the appeal to sponsors and authorities.
