The HOOPLA provincial basketball tournament will be offered in a condensed format on March 23, 2024 in Moose Jaw, much to the dismay of the participants. This is a consequence of the pressure tactics chosen by the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation, as part of its negotiations with the province to renew their collective agreement.

The women’s basketball team from Monseigneur de Laval school, Pavillon secondary des Quatre Vents, will play for the bronze medal against Indian Head school on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

One of the members of the Lionesses team, Eve Ouellet, explains the disappointment that she and her teammates are experiencing as they have been preparing for this tournament for several months.

LeBron James showed once again that he has no limits, leading the Los Angeles Lakers to the NBA Cup final with overwhelming authority. At 38 years old, LeBron is approaching his umpteenth NBA final and made a fool of the New Orleans Pelicans with an overwhelming 133-89 victory.

In the second quarter of the game, LeBron scored 18 points, bordering on perfection and making it clear that the Pelicans' fantasies were not going to be fulfilled in front of his imposing presence on the court. The Lakers went into halftime with a 13-point lead (67-54) and the rival team had no reaction.

In the second half of the game, the Pelicans missed 14 consecutive shots and the Lakers took advantage to increase the difference on the scoreboard. In the fourth quarter, the Lakers' starters didn't even have to play, as LeBron led the team with 30 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists in just 23 minutes of play. The rest of the team also contributed to the beating, with outstanding performances from Austin Reaves, Anthony Davis and other players.

On the other hand, the Pelicans seemed like a band of players incapable of scoring and defending. Brandon Ingram, former Lakers player and the team's leading scorer this season, could only score 9 points in the game. Zion Williamson, considered a promise in American basketball, did not perform well either and only scored 13 points.

In short, LeBron James led the Lakers to a blowout victory in the NBA Cup semifinals and once again demonstrated his basketball greatness. The team will now face the Indiana Pacers in the finals.

"We came out with a good defensive mentality, and when we defend we give ourselves a good opportunity to win any game," analyzed LeBron, who was the great protagonist of the night along with Tyrone Murphy.
