The Dianense Martina Gil Miralles has closed her time in the basketball training categories with a brilliant second place in the Spanish Junior Women’s Championship that she played with her team, Valencia Basket. The Carolina Marón pavilion in Huelva hosted a high-level final on Saturday in which Estudiantes de Madrid ended up taking the title (67-52) against the Valencians, in an even match in which they were better in the decisive moments of the duel.
To reach that decisive match, the Valencians defeated in the initial phase, in one of the most complicated groups of the tournament, Alcobendas (86-49), Perfumeras Avenida de Salamanca (64-66) and the Catalanas de Sant Adri (68- 42).
In the quarterfinals, Martina Gil’s team beat Gran Canaria (71-57) and then defeated the island’s other team, Spar Gran Canaria (76-65), in the semifinals after a great comeback in the last period.
Martina puts an end to an excellent season in this bittersweet way, but she does so proud of an incredible career for which both her brave commitment to basketball and the unconditional support of her family have been fundamental.
