PHILADELPHIA – The University of Delaware women’s tennis team secured a landmark victory on Friday, defeating No. 45 Penn 4-3 in a thrilling match. This win represents the highest-ranked opponent the Fightin’ Blue Hens have ever defeated in program history.

Senior Amelia Gorman sealed the victory for Delaware with a decisive win at No. 3 singles. The final score saw Delaware triumph 4-3 over Penn.

Season Records and Historic Context

With this win, Delaware improves its season record to 5-2, while Penn falls to 5-4. This marks only the second dual win in program history against Penn, and the first since 1976. UD’s overall record against Penn now stands at 2-9.
