Latin American Tennis on the Rise

Former US Open champion Juan Martín del Potro believes Latin American tennis is poised for significant growth, citing the increasing talent and dedication of players from the region. Currently, 11 of the top 100 players worldwide originate from Latin America, with Argentina leading the way with nine representatives.

Del Potro emphasized that players from Latin America often overcome greater obstacles than their European counterparts. He fondly remembers that victory, recalling the image of a mariachi hat, the Guaje de Plata trophy in his hands and the affection of the Mexican fans. He described his 2018 win as particularly meaningful, having defeated a challenging draw including Thiem, Zverev, Ferrer, and Anderson.

Despite retiring due to injuries in 2022, Del Potro continues to enjoy tennis from a new perspective. He believes tennis events offer a unique blend of competition and social interaction, leaving attendees very happy.
