The school duel
Furiously topical, this feature film from director Todd Wiseman Jr. is set in Florida, “in the near future” where this state that became independent abolished gun control, causing an unprecedented rise in shootings, particularly in schools. It is in this context that a 13-year-old boy takes part in a deadly competition to gain notoriety. The young man is played by Kue Kellyn Lawrence. This 1 hour 30 minute drama is being screened, this Tuesday, September 10, at 5:30 p.m., at the Casino cinema.

Gazer
This nearly two-hour thriller is the first feature film by a self-taught director from New Jersey. Ryan J. Sloan is an electrician – and therefore a filmmaker – and signs with Gazer a film whose heroine, Frankie, played by Ariella Mastroianni, suffers from a degenerative disease that blurs her temporal reference points, induces loss of consciousness and paranoid disorders. It is difficult, under these conditions, to access any professional stability. To regain custody of her child, she therefore accepts a mission, entrusted by a woman whose motivations are dubious. The film will be screened in the presence of the director and the main actress, this Tuesday, at 10 a.m., at the CID. It had been presented at the Quinzaine des Cinéastes at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
