Nylander was the sole Maple Leafs member to participate in every single one of the 82 games in the regular season, and he had maintained this streak for three consecutive years.

Without Nylander, Nicholas Robertson was added to Toronto’s third line. He played 14 shifts and had 10:38 minutes of ice time.

Nylander, a player for the Toronto Maple Leafs, did not play in their 5-1 defeat to the Boston Bruins in Game 1 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs on Saturday. This was due to an injury that has not been disclosed.

Unfortunately, he was absent on Saturday. The Toronto team made an impressive 36 attempts at goal, but were unable to score against Boston’s goalie, Jeremy Swayman, in the first match. Near the end of the game, David Kampf scored Toronto’s lone goal, with help from teammates Connor Dewar and Ryan Reaves, but it was not enough to overcome the 4-0 deficit.

Although Keefe did not directly state Nylander’s situation earlier, his teammates seemed to accept that they would have to play without him.

Timothy Liljegren stated that it is difficult to fill William’s place. However, throughout the year, we have seen other players step up in situations like this, so it will be the same this time.

Nylander had a record-breaking season with 98 points, solidifying his position as one of Toronto’s top six forwards. He is also a key member of the Maple Leafs’ leading power-play unit.

The Maple Leafs’ talented players Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner collectively had seven attempted shots and played for almost 41 minutes on the ice, but were unable to prevent Toronto from falling behind 1-0 in the series.

There is no new information on Nylander from Keefe following Saturday’s defeat.

The second game will take place on Monday in Boston.
