Within the YPF system Buenos Aires Challenger, At the Racket Club, a special conference was held under the theme “Development and challenges of tennis in South America.”
It was attended Maria Gabriela Larrosa, race director; Rafael Westrupp, vice-president of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the supreme authority of COSAT; and Agustín Calleri, president of the Argentine Tennis Association (AAT).
“For several years we have been working with the ITF, COSAT and AAT within the framework of development of tennis in South America. “I want to thank you for choosing the Buenos Aires Challenger to hold this meeting with the aim of discussing this topic that concerns us, which is the development and challenges of tennis in the region,” said Larrosa.
Westrupp, for his part, mentioned the health of the tournament and looked closely at what is happening in South American tennis: “We are very grateful to Gabriela for being the leader of this tournament. It is very important for a woman to have a place like this. I want to thank Agustín for being invited by the AAT and the team all of the managers. COSAT, as well as the ITF, are very grateful for the management they are doing with tennis Argentinian. In men we have about 30 Challengers in South America; For women, the number of games increased and the number of games played.
Regarding the rise in which South American tennis is going in recent years, and in comparison with the tennis centers of the world, he added: “The technical planning of COSAT, which we did in 2022, showed that. South America had growth in terms of young players. The first measure was to increase the amount of physical activity that these young people could do to grow. In South America, due to past challenges, players always train to compete. In Europe they teach by competing. ”
Agustín Calleri appreciated the amount of competition: “This kind of competition is not seen in the world; the offices, the level, the structure of the club, the education of many years here. The cooperation that COSAT has is known by the numbers: the number of South American players at the top is related to COSAT’s work and our support as organizations. “
The President also celebrated the recent team of the Argentine Tennis Team to the Final 8 of the Davis Cup, which will be played from November 19 to 24 in Malaga: “Now we are in the Finals in Malaga. We knew it was very difficult to qualify but we did it; In terms of sports it is the biggest scam. In women’s tennis we have more shows in the country and more and more players on the list.
