Published: February 20, 2026

New President Takes the Helm

The Decazeville Coal Basin Judo Club has a new leader, with Jessica Grès elected as the club’s president during a recent general meeting. The meeting was attended by elected officials from Decazeville and Firmi, as well as representatives from the regional council.

The transition marks the end of Sandrine Comte’s 16-year tenure as president. Comte expressed her emotions, stating,

“After 16 years as president of the JCBH, It’s with great emotion and sadness that I leave the ship, thinking among other things of all these young champions who were trained at the Decazeville dojo. A page in my life is turning. I will nevertheless remain present to help the new office and share with them everything I have learned from the associative world and more particularly from judo during these years, as Valérie Vincentelli did with me at the time.”

Strong Sporting Results and Community Involvement

Comte highlighted the club’s satisfactory sporting results, noting the progress of several young athletes and the availability of courses and advanced training throughout the year. The club also maintains a strong presence in the community, hosting events like Halloween celebrations, sports festivals, garage sales, and plant sales.

Treasurer Also Steps Down

Alongside the presidential change, Jean Laurent Verdeaux also relinquished his role as treasurer after eight years of service. He will be replaced by Virginie Barthélémy. Eugénie Druguet was re-elected as secretary for another four-year term.
