Danish Crown Prince Christian enjoyed his first solo trip abroad. The eldest son of King Frederik and Queen Mary was in the stands at the Paralympic Games in Paris on Monday and it made an impression, he told Danish broadcaster DR afterwards.

“It was something very special. The atmosphere is great,” said 18-year-old Christian. The prince was in the stands at the badminton and saw compatriot Cathrine Rosengren lose the battle for bronze. He also visited the Paralympic village.

Christian found it “a pleasure” to meet the para-athletes. “They really impressed me and were all very nice. A great, great experience.”

The Crown Prince can now look forward to his next trip. On Wednesday he will leave for a longer period to East Africa.
