On the occasion of the opening of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) on September 5, 2024, Chinese President Xi Jinping unveiled an aid plan of 50 billion dollars, or approximately 30,000 billion FCFA, intended to support the development of African countries.
The event, which brings together more than 50 African heads of state as well as the UN Secretary-General, is taking place in Beijing and will last two days.
Burkina Faso is represented by its Prime Minister, Appolinaire Kyèlem de Tambèla, who joins his counterparts for this 9th forum. This high-level meeting, held every three years, is an opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties and chart a common path towards development.
The discussions will focus on several key issues, including infrastructure modernization, industrialization, and technological cooperation. Beyond the financial assistance announced by Xi Jinping, the forum will focus on strengthening partnerships in the context of African economic transformation, with a perspective of sustainable and mutually beneficial development for both parties.
