Chilean Judo Team Shines in Brazil at International Tournament: Cadets Win Bronze, Juniors Take Three Medals

The Chilean Judo Team is in Brazil for a new international tournament.

Rio de Janeiro is home to the Pan American and Oceania Championships.

The tournament is held in the cadet, junior and adult categories.

The first to compete were the cadets.

Kharla Casas won the bronze medal in the women’s +70 kilo category.

In the fight for third place, Casas defeated the Ecuadorian Brisley Ordóñez.

The Ecuadorian judoka received 3 shidos (fouls), which earned her a hansoku-makea (disqualification).

Carla León (48 kilos women), Rodrigo Quispe (60 kilos men), Luciano Jiménez (81 kilos men) and Patricio Urra (+90 kilos men) finished fifth in their respective categories.

This Tuesday, meanwhile, it was the turn of the Junior category.

The national delegation obtained three bronze medals.

Kharla Casas (+78 kilos women) added her second personal medal after defeating Valeria Hernández (Costa Rica) in the definition of third place.

Tomás Hernández (-73 kilos men) defeated Ecuadorian José González in the bronze medal match.

The third bronze medal was obtained by Patricio Urra in the men’s +100 kilo category, after beating the Mexican Gerardo Castelán.

Constanza Pérez (-63 kilos women) and Fabricio Meyer (-66 kilos men) obtained fifth place in their respective categories.

This Wednesday the mixed team competitions will be held, both in cadets and juniors.

Adults, meanwhile, have their competitions scheduled between Friday the 26th and Sunday the 28th.
