Cheah Liek Hou Triumphs Again: Defends Para Badminton World Title

Nine-Time Champion Clinches Incredible Victory

Manama, Bahrain – National para badminton ace Cheah Liek Hou has done it again. The Malaysian superstar successfully defended his men’s singles SU5 (physical impairment) title at the 2026 BWF Para Badminton World Championships, held at Isa Sports City.

This triumph marks Liek Hou’s ninth world title in the men’s singles SU5 category. His previous wins came in 2005, 2007, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2022, and 2024.

A Double Chance for Liek Hou

The 37-year-old, who also won a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, isn’t stopping at just the singles title. Liek Hou, alongside partner Mohamad Faris Ahmad Azri, is set to compete in the men’s doubles SU5 final tonight, giving him a chance to secure a double at this year’s world championships.
