The winners of the general partnership tender for the first and second leagues were announced today by the League Football Association. Professional football will get 260 million crowns from him every year for five years.
Betting companies Betano, Fortuna and Chance were interested in the position of general partner of Czech professional football, and ČSOB bank completed the four candidates. However, Chance overcame all rivals with its offer. As reported by the diary Sport, the company Betano entered the tender with an offer of 38 million crowns per year. Fortuna offered 95 million. ČSOB equal to one hundred million. Even together, these three applicants would not be able to match the 260 million from Chance, whose name is also the second highest hockey competition.
According to the League Football Association, it was the price that was the only criterion in the selection process that determined the general partner for the next five years. “I have to call the selection process very successful and I was pleased with the funds that Czech professional football will receive for the next seasons. I perceive the final amount, which pleasantly surprised not only me, as a confirmation of the fact that connection with Czech professional football is currently a very attractive and prestigious matter.” said LFA chairman Dušan Svoboda.
This is already the second financial boost for Czech football in a short period of time. Last November, O2 TV won the television rights to the Premier League with an offer exceeding 300 million per year. Audiovisual rights for odds betting purposes were then acquired by the already mentioned company Betano with an offer of about 120 million. In total, they will receive 430 million for the rights of the professional competition, almost three times the amount that domestic football has collected for them so far. The activity of the league management means that around 700 million crowns will flow into professional football every year.
“It is great to see that a number of important companies have the desire and interest to associate their name with Czech professional football, which is going through a great period. We take it as recognition of the work of the professional clubs and the LFA itself.” said LFA sales and marketing director Daniel Hajný. The league will bear the new – yet to be announced – name from the first of July. In the near future, it will also have to evaluate the selection process for holders of audiovisual rights for foreign markets.
