Historic Gold: HSV Stöckte Judoka Shine at IJF Kata Judo World Cup
In a groundbreaking achievement, the HSV Stöckte judo department has made history. For the first time, athletes from the club have brought home a gold medal from a world judo tournament. The remarkable feat occurred at the inaugural IJF Kata World Series in Gijón, Spain, where 130 judoka from ten nations participated.
Gold Medal Triumph in Katame-no-Kata
The duo of Carolin Charina Jeromin and Martin Etter, both of HSV Stöckte, sensationally secured the gold medal in the Katame-no-Kata category. This complex judo floor kata involves advanced techniques such as holding, choking, and leverage moves. Speaking at the awards ceremony, Jeromin expressed her excitement, stating:
“For our judo club, it is one of the greatest international successes in our history. The best advertisement for the performance-oriented sport of judo in our club. At HSV Stöckte, judo is much more than just a sport.”

Despite these challenging circumstances, Jeromin and Etter put on a highly precise and concentrated demonstration to confidently win their preliminary group. After a long wait, the duo maintained their composure and clean execution in the finals, ultimately clinching the gold medal nobody expected them to win.
