Steven Dubois powered to Olympic gold in the men’s 500m short track speed skating final, finishing in 40.85 seconds. He took the lead from the start and maintained control throughout the four-and-a-half lap race.

Dutch skaters Melle van ’t Wout and Jens van ’t Wout secured silver and bronze, respectively, finishing in 40.91 and 41.92 seconds. William Dandjinou of Canada received a penalty during the final.

This victory marks Dubois’s first individual Olympic gold medal and his fifth Olympic medal adding to the bronze he won at Beijing 2022 and a silver in the mixed relay earlier at these Games.

Canada’s Men’s Hockey Team Escapes with OT Win Over Czechia

The Canadian men’s hockey team advanced to the semifinals with a 4-3 overtime victory against Czechia. Mitch Marner scored the winning goal.

The game was marked by concern for captain Sidney Crosby, who left the game with an injury after a hit. Canada will face Finland in the semifinals on Friday.
