The Oregon Athletic Officers Association (OAOA) and the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) are looking for dedicated referees as the spring high school sports season approaches. Today marks the opening of registration for new officials, particularly highlighting an urgent need for umpires in both baseball and softball.
Taking on the role of a high school official has a multitude of benefits. Not only do referees stay actively involved in the world of sports, but they also have the chance to stay fit while earning an average of $80 per match officiated.
“Oregon is facing a critical shortage of officials in various sports,” said Jack Folliard, executive director of the OAOA. “Our referees provide an essential service to high schools and their students, fostering a positive influence within the community and helping to create meaningful relationships. »
