Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever was almost unanimously chosen WNBA Rookie of the Year on Thursday.

She obtained 66 of 67 votes in a poll conducted among journalists and sports commentators.

The other vote went to Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese.

No. 1 draft pick (University of Iowa), Clark led the league with an average of 8.4 assists per game, in addition to scoring 19.2 points per game. She helped the circuit set attendance records.

The Fever won just one of their first nine games, going 20-20.

I’m hard on myself. I would say I’ve been solid this season, Clark said after the Fever were knocked out in the first round by the Connecticut Sun last week.

I find that I’m just beginning to tap into my potential, and at the same time, I worry about all kinds of little things. I think I can grow a lot more, which is exciting.

Clark was the East’s Player of the Month for August, Player of the Week three times and Rookie of the Month four times.

Twice, his points, assists and rebounds all reached double digits in a game. Never has a rookie achieved this feat in the WNBA.

Clark became the first rookie to have a game with at least 30 points and 10 assists. She led the WNBA with 122 three-pointers. In terms of free throws, she finished 2nd with a success rate of 90.6%.

Indiana finished atop the league in crowds, both at home and away, averaging 17,036 at home and more than 15,000 in other cities.
