Georgia’s Eteri Liparteliani Wins -57 kg Title, First Gold for Her Country
In a tactical and hard-fought contest, 25-year-old Georgian judoka Eteri Liparteliani claimed the -57 kg world title in Budapest. The number two world ranked Liparteliani outclassed double world medalist Momo Tamaoki of Japan with a decisive waza-ari.
Adding to her Olympic bronze in Paris 2024, this victory marks Liparteliani’s first world title and the first gold medal for Georgia in the ongoing championships.
A delighted Liparteliani said, “This is an incredible moment for me and my country. I’ve worked so hard for this, and it’s an honour to bring Georgia its first gold in this championship.”
