Bears Overcome Early Deficit to Secure Victory

WEYMOUTH, MASS. – The Brown women’s tennis team (6-3) demonstrated remarkable resilience, battling back from a 3-1 deficit to defeat Boston College (6-2) by a score of 4-3 on Sunday afternoon.

Doubles Struggles, Singles Comeback

The match began with a challenging start for the Bears in doubles play. Dani Ben-Abraham and Hannah Shen lost their match at the first line to Seren Agar and Natalie Eordekian, 6-4. Abigail Lee and Chloe Qin fell at the second line to Leyden Games and Olivia Benton, 7-5. Ali Maguy and Anne Yang also suffered a defeat at the third line against Bella Camacho and Tola Glowacka, 7-6.

Though, Brown responded strongly in singles play. Dani Ben-Abraham secured the first point for the Bears, defeating Tola Glowacka at the fourth line with a score of 6-4 and 6-2.

Despite Hannah Shen falling to Olivia Benton at the first line (7-5, 6-2) and Abigail Lee losing to Natalie Eordekian at the third line (7-6, 6-3), the Bears refused to concede.

Ali Maguy fought back against Seren Agar, ultimately winning her match with a score of 2-6, 6-2, 7-6. Anne Yang then tied the overall match score, defeating Leyden Games at the fifth line in a three-set tiebreaker (2-6, 6-2, 7-5). Sari Woo clinched the match victory in a tense three-set tiebreaker.

“Dani did a great job closing out her match in 2 sets, giving our team the first point. Ali, Sari and Annie all fought back after losing their respective 1st sets. All three stepped up big when it most counted, outcompeting their opponents in the end. A great team effort today!”
