I Brooklyn Nets will hire Jordi Fernandez come new head coachreplacing Kevin Ollie who had taken over on an interim basis during the current season from the sacked Jaque Vaughn.

Fernandez, assistant coach of the Sacramento Kings and coach of the Canadian national team, was also one of the names indicated for the Charlotte Hornets bench but in Brooklyn he had been identified for weeks as the right man for the team’s bench. The agreement will be formalized in the next few hours.

The Nets fired Vaughn in February just after the All-Star Game break, and entrusted the bench to Ollie on an interim basis. Jacque Vaughn had also taken over Steve Nash in November 2022 after the dismissal of the former MVP. For Brooklyn this is the fifth different head coach in three years.
