Utah State’s Bill Garren Honored as Mountain West Video Coordinator of the Year
LOGAN, Utah – The Collegiate Sports Video Association named Bill Garren, Assistant Athletics Director for Video Operations at Utah State University, the 2025-26 Mountain West Conference Video Coordinator of the Year.
A Legacy of Excellence
Garren was selected by his peers in the Mountain West to receive the Conference Video Coordinator of the Year honor. He is now a finalist for the prestigious Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year award, which will be announced at the annual CSVA banquet on May 20, 2026, in Denver, Colorado.

Extensive Experience and Responsibilities
Garren is in his 20th year as the Director of Video Operations for the Utah State athletics department and was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Video Operations in 2016. His role encompasses managing all aspects of athletic video and editing, including training and supervising student assistants for practice and game filming. He also oversees the video room’s daily operations, manages digital TV needs, and handles live streaming events for the Mountain West, as well as providing video support for USU’s 16 intercollegiate sports.
Multiple Accolades
Garren has been recognized as Video Coordinator of the Year a total of eight times in the Mountain West (2013, 2017, 2021-26) and four times in the Western Athletic Conference (2009-12) by his peers and the Collegiate Sports Video Association (CSVA). He has been a CSVA member for 24 years. He also serves as the Mountain West Conference VC representative for all 12 schools and the Mountain West Conference Co-Op VC representative for the national Open Exchange group.
Career Path
Prior to his current role at Utah State, Garren served as the video coordinator at Idaho State from 2000 to 2002, and again from 2004 to 2005. He also spent a season at San José State in 2002, and was an assistant football and track coach at his high school in Montrose, Colorado, in 2003.
Educational Background
Garren earned a master’s degree in athletic administration from Idaho State in 2005.
Family Ties to Aggie Athletics
Garren, a former football player at Idaho State and Ricks College, comes from a family deeply involved in athletics. His daughter, Maia, was an All-Mountain West thrower and school-record holder in the indoor weight throw for USU’s track & field team. His other daughter, Milly, is currently a thrower on the USU track & field team, and his son, Tyler, is a high school athlete competing in baseball and track & field.
