Hassan plays for Lebanon in the Davis Cup

“I play tennis to have fun. That’s why I started,” Hassan said in October when he made it into the main round of an ATP tournament for the first time in Stockholm. Since then, the performance curve of the right-hander, who was born in Neuwied and plays in the Davis Cup for Lebanon (his parents’ country of birth), has shown a clear upward trend.

At the prestigious Masters in Indian Wells in March, Hassan narrowly missed out on making it into the main draw by losing to the Japanese Shintaro Mochizuki – he defeated him in two sets in the final qualifying round on Tuesday in the Spanish capital. Against Coric, ranked 34th in the world, he had to admit defeat after 2:34 hours.
