Benijófar Celebrates International Women’s Day with Week-Long Series of Events

Benijófar is gearing up for a week of events dedicated to celebrating International Women’s Day, with a program organized by the Department of Equality of the Benijófar Town Hall. The festivities, running from Sunday, March 1st to Sunday, March 8th, offer a diverse range of free activities for residents and visitors.

A Full Schedule of Events

The program is packed with opportunities for engagement, covering fitness, education, and cultural experiences. Here’s a breakdown of the planned events:

• Tuesday, March 3rd, 7:30 PM: A yoga ‘vinyasa’ class taught by Yolanda Rodríguez will be held in the classroom of the Municipal Sports Center building. The class will focus on conscious movement what unites breathing and fluidity in each pose.
• Wednesday, March 4th, 7:30 PM: A dynamic talk titled ‘Tips for preventing toxic relationships’ will be presented by Leticia Beltrán, coordinator of the Social Work Unit of the Health Department of ‘Elx-Crevillent’, at the House of Culture.
• Thursday, March 5th, 7:30 PM: A ‘Master class’ titled ‘Special training for women’ will be led by Rocío Padilla at the covered track of the Municipal Sports Center.
• Friday, March 6th, 7:30 PM: A bachata workshop, instructed by Julia Marín Alberca from the ‘Sofía Sánchez’ dance school, will take place in the body expression classroom of the House of Culture.
• Saturday, March 7th, 2:00 PM: A celebratory meal for International Women’s Day will be held at the ‘Villa Monica’ estate in Dolores. A bus will depart from the House of Culture at 1:45 PM. The menu costs 43 euros, reduced to 25 euros for registered Benijófar residents, with the City Council subsidizing the difference.
• Sunday, March 8th, 5:30 PM: A film screening of the Spanish movie ‘Five little wolves’ (2022), directed by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa and starring Laia Costa, Susi Sanchez, Ramon Barea, and others, will be shown at the auditorium of the House of Culture. The film is not recommended for children under 12. The film’s synopsis details Amaia’s journey as a new mother returning to her parents’ home in the Basque Country.

A Film to Inspire Reflection

The concluding event, the screening of ‘Five little wolves’, is expected to invite attendees to reflect, become emotionally invested, and share perspectives. A special snack will follow the film, providing an opportunity for discussion.
